The school was founded by Marco Dessy, a Roman Catholic priest, after he saw children scavenging for food at Chinandega’s garbage dump. Members of the Rotary Club of Rockland, Maine, USA, stand with a family in front of its new home. Eleven members of the club traveled to Sri Lanka to rebuild homes destroyed by the 2004 tsunami. They worked with Habitat for Humanity’s Global Village program, in which international volunteers, homeowners, and local volunteers build homes together. 28 October 2005.
